Prof. Sauda Swaleh is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry Department, Kenyatta University. She is a prolific, well-rounded scholar, researcher and administrator. She has numerous publications in peer reviewed scientific journals, proceedings and several book articles. She is a reviewer of scientific journals in her area of specialization (Organic & Bioorganic Chemistry). Prof. Swaleh attained doctorate degree (Magna cum Laude) from Humboldt University, Germany. She is a recipient of numerous awards: Prestigious Post Doc – Angewandte Synthese chemie; Research Fellowship – Norvatis / Seeding Labs; Short term awards by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD); Vice Chancellor Research Grants; Summer School – Technische University, Carolo – Wihelmina zu Braunschweig. Prof. Sauda Swaleh is currently the Chairperson of the Chemistry Department, Kenyatta University. Prof. Swaleh is the immediate former and first Ag. Deputy Director and overall head of Africa Centre for Transformative & Inclusive Leadership (ACTIL), a partnership between UN Women and Kenyatta University. Before then she served a successful and exemplary five year term as Deputy Dean of Students, Kenyatta University. Prof. Swaleh has served in national, regional and international Fora. She was key stakeholder in the Natural Products Initiative Platform. She is a member of: DAAD & KDSA, Kenya Chemical Society, NAPRECA, African Women in Science & Engineers (AWSE) International Network of Women Engineers & Scientist (INWES).
